Knit people

I've been making little knit versions of people that I know.

Recently I've also started making flat Stanley-type versions of colleagues that are now traveling the world (see the blog www.flatknitHEImafia.blogspot.com)

And now facebook is slowly being taken over by these knit avatars :-)

Muno

Lately I've been inspired by Jan Messent's amazing books and I've been knitting up a storm. I'll try to slowly post my latest creations. I've been modifying her knitted doll pattern to make various dolls and here's one of my favorite. It's Muno from Yo Gaba Gaba (one of my daughter's favorite shows and my favorite character). One of the best things about Jan Messent's dolls are that they have pipe cleaner skeletons so they're completely posable.

It's been a while since I posted, but my needles haven't been resting. I made some mini pumpkins to hang in the window for Halloween,

a rabbit hat for my son for Hanukkah,

striped longies,

and a froggie hat for my newborn second niece.

Elmo

Aiden loves Elmo, so I decided to make a little Elmo doll for him. Before I even had it fully put together he was standing by the bookcase where it was sitting and saying "Elmo Elmo!" I had no choice but to stitch it all together really quickly so I could give it to him. He took to it immediately and started carrying it around like a prized possession :-)

The pattern uses the double knitting technique. This is the first time I had ever heard of that, but it's a really cool way to knit a 3-d creation using 2 straight needles, and I'm hooked on it.
